Spring Edition of Voice of the Traveller magazine out now

The Voice of the Traveller magazine spring edition is now available in newsagents across Ireland and Northern Ireland

This issue features an interview with TV Presenter Kathryn Thomas who talks about the hit TV show, Operation Transformation as well as her future ambitions. The full interview can be found in our 8 page pull-out promoting healthy eating and fitness.

We also feature a candid interview of PJ Maughan who grew up in Irelands state care system. PJ speaks about how his experience has left him feeling as though he doesn’t fit it with his community. We also visit the Kilkenny Traveller community movement (KTCM), read how this local group is lending a louder voice to the Traveller community in Kilkenny as well as the great work that goes on within the centre.

In regular features Martin Ward talks about his experiences of returning to adult education in Diary of an Adult learner. We also have our regular feature from Martin ”Beanz” Warde in which he talks about issues of Homophobia in the community.

Written by Travellers for Travellers and the wider community, Voice of the Traveller serves as a window and guarantees its readers an authentic view of a community whose coverage in mainstream tabloids tends to be unrepresented and generally negative. Our regional reporters challenge the stereotypes and negative issues that have constantly arisen and only served to limit the potential growth of our community.

Voice of the Traveller magazine first launched in 1991 and it is the only magazine dedicated to profiling Traveller life today. The magazine has recently been made available in newsagents across Ireland and Northern Ireland and is becoming more popular with every issue released.

Regional news and information on changes to the law as well as details of upcoming events keep our readers both in Ireland and abroad informed on what’s happening within the community. The magazine is hailed as a vital information tool to those separated from the community or living abroad.

For those that are interested in reading the other side of the story this is a must read.
