Lobbying for the Recognition of Traveller Ethnicity

Traveller groups across the country have spent a lot of time and effort in trying to get the State to recognise Traveller ethnicity. The time for action is now – we request that you speak to your local TD at their constituency clinic and lobby for the recognition of Traveller ethnicity. Call in and tell them why this recognition is important, what it means to you and ask them to raise a Parlimentary question to Minister Alan Shatter about what are his plans are to introduce legislation to recognise Traveller ethnicity.

Some TDs have already started asking such questions but we need as many as possible to raise the issue in the Dáil. It is very important that all Travellers take a lead on this – it won’t take a lot of time or effort but could hugely improve the rights of all Travellers in the country, so please do take the time to do this. Make your voice heard!
